COVINGTON -- John Maurice Dewlen, prominent Fountain County farmer, died Sunday night at his home on Rt. 3, Covington. Mr. Dewlen, 46, had suffered from a heart condition for over a year. The deceased had owned and operated the farm for nearly all his adult life, and was a member of the Covington Consolidated Schools Holding Corporation. In addition, he was a member of the Salem Methodist Church, and Tidal Lodge 36, Knights of Pythias. Born on May 2, 1922 in Covington, he was the son of John LaMont and Clara Young Dewlen. His wife, the former Naomi Ritenour, survives. Besides his wife, Mr. Dewlen is survived by his mother; three sons, Phillip, who resided next door and Jimmie and Tom, who live at home; four daughters, Mrs. Jeanie Cooke of Danville, Ill., and Vickie, Melody and Robin, who also live at home. He was preceded in death by a brother. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the Hegg Funeral Home. Services will be held at the Salem Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Edith Bruner officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.  --waw
